Compared to shaving, waxing is becoming more popular throughout the world. Shaving removes only the part of the hair that is above the surface of the skin. This means that re-growth is rapid and coarse. Shaving can also result in unsightly stubble. Waxing removes the entire hair down to the root, so it will normally take four to six weeks before re-growth occurs. When it does reappear, the hair will become progressively finer and softer with repeated applications. The first growth of hair will be soft and easy to remove so waxing is recommended as the first method of hair removal. Re-growth is inhibited more easily at this stage.
Wax Strips
Wax strips are the most convenient method of waxing. Quick, hygienic and disposable, there is no need for any preparation or special equipment. Simply warm the double strip between your hands and separate into two individual strips. Press the wax strip firmly on to the area to be waxed and quickly pull it off again.
- Each strip will be effective for several applications.
- Ideal for travel, quick touch-ups and home use.
- Body strips are used for large areas, while facial strips are for small and sensitive areas.
- The unused side can be folded in two, for future use.
Hot Wax
Hot Wax is one of the oldest methods of waxing. It is particularly effective on strong, short hair, which makes it ideal for those switching from shaving to waxing. The warmth of the wax causes the pores to open, so the hair and root is easily removed.
- Cleanse skin from any lotion or cream and apply talc if skin feels greasy.
- Heat wax blocks slowly until they have melted.
- Leave wax to cool to correct consistency and temperature. Always conduct a patch test to make sure the wax is not too hot.
- Don’t allow wax to harden on the skin. When the wax no longer sticks when touched and is not too hard, pull against the direction of hair growth to remove hair.
- Do not use wax immediately after showering or bathing.
- Always read manufacturers instructions before use.
Hair Removing Cream and Spray Foam
One of the most modern and convenient methods of hair removal. Simply spread an even layer over the area to be treated and the hair will come away easily. No pain, no nicks or cuts.
Creams and foams work in a completely different way to waxing or shaving. As the hair comes away below the surface of the skin, it takes much longer to re-grow than with shaving, and the re-growth will be softer and finer.

Hair bleach cream
If the prospect of hair removal does not appeal to you, there is an alternative. Facial hair need not be unattractive. Marilyn Monroe, for instance, derived some of her photogenic appeal from a light covering of fine golden hair on her face. The light reflected by this hair helped create her familiar, bright and sparkling image.
Bleaching cream lightens the colour of the hair so that it blends in with your natural skin tone. It is best suited to small areas such as upper lips/ or areas where the hair is fine but dark such as, arms, sideburns or neck.
It is usually left on for about 10 minutes, then re-applied every two to three weeks.
